Mission Statement
The Devils’ Alumni Association was formed for the purpose of bringing together former Devils’ players to develop enjoyable civic activities and charitable fund raisers, to participate in worthwhile charity/community service programs, and to develop means to help promote amateur hockey. Former Devils’ defensemen Bruce Driver and Randy Velischek, and forward John MacLean are the directors of the association. Driver played with the Devils for 12 seasons from 1983-84 through 1994-95 and was a member of the 1995 Stanley Cup Championship club. Velischek appeared in 304 games with New Jersey from 1985-86 through 1989-90. He has been a member of the club’s radio broadcast team since 1995-96. MacLean is New Jersey’s all-time leading scorer.

Charity Golf Classic

The organization held its fourth annual charity golf classic September 10, 2002 at the Ballyowen Golf Club in Hardyston, NJ. This season’s event benefitted the Children’s Miracle Network NJ/NY Metro Area, Inc. and the alumni association. Driver, MacLean and Velischek were the tournament’s chairmen. Among the participants were former Devils Aaron Broten, Alain Chevrier, and Glenn “Chico” Resch as well as current players

Scholarships
Among the association’s charitable endeavors, four $2,500 scholarships are provided annually to deserving high school senior hockey players. The purpose of this program is to assist in their education at the college or university of their choice. Interested student/athletes, their parents, coaches, athletic directors, and/or principals should contact the association for an application.

Hockey Clinics
The association conducts on-ice clinics for your youth hockey group or high school ice hockey team free of charge. You provide the ice time and the 20-35 youngsters and the association will provide the presentation—specifically designed for your group. The length of each session will be based on ice availability and group size. The presenters, Bruce Driver, Randy Velischek, and John MacLean have a combined 41 years of National Hockey League playing experience. Up to seven drills are included: circle follow, passing, one-or-two-on-none, shooting/pivoting, two-on-none passing, one-on-one combinations, and four corners/one timers.

Charity Hockey Games
The association may be available to challenge your hockey team to benefit the charity of your choice. Last season, the association took on members of the Paterson, NJ Fire Department and the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey Police Department to raise money for September 11 relief funds.

Charities
Bruce Driver and Randy Velischek each took part in "Career Days" at local schools, addressing students about their experiences and career paths to the NHL and life after hockey. Velischek kicked off the Boys & Girls Club SMART Hockey Program by speaking to members about the importance of good study habits and work ethic. Fifteen participating Boys & Girls Clubs were in attendance. There are 1,500 boys and girls enrolled in the program.
