Devils’ Support
Devils’ game night drives are successful for one reason—we
receive tremendous support from our fans.
At each of our drives, the wives/girlfriends of the Devils’
players are on hand to assist in the collections on the arena
concourse, at the box office lobby, and at the Winners’
entrance. Fans making a donation at each of the drives are eligible
to win autographed Devils’ memorabilia.
For approximately four weeks prior to the events, each drive
is promoted through press releases, the Devils’ Center Ice
game program, FOX Sports Net, WABC 770 AM, and scoreboard and
public address announcements, raising the public’s awareness
of each drive, as well as each organization.
Food Drive
The Devils’ food drive is held each season, in conjunction
with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, on the night of a Devils’
regular-season home game. Fans attending that evening’s
game are encouraged to bring unopened cans or boxes of non-perishable
food. More than 3,600 pounds of food and $2,100 were collected
at last season’s food drive. The CFB of NJ distributes 18
million pounds of food and groceries annually, helping non-profit
groups such as food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, child care
centers, and senior programs. The CFB of NJ serves more than 1,500
organizations in 18 counties throughout the state, picking up
donations from approximately 250 corporations with their small
fleet of trucks. Its Hillside, NJ warehouse is fully equipped
with 280,000 square feet of space, 15,000 square feet of which
is freezer and cooler space. An experienced staff, including more
than 13,000 volunteers, contributes 62,000 hours each year to
help the needy.
