Nets/Devils Foundation
Mission Statement
The New Jersey Nets and Devils Foundation is the non-profit, philanthropic
arm of the New Jersey Nets Professional Basketball Corporation and
the New Jersey Devils Professional Hockey Team. Philanthropic efforts
take the form of strategic investments in new and existing programs.
Dedicated to New Jersey urban centers, particularly Newark, the
future home of the teams, these efforts focus on youth, education
and strengthening communities. By leveraging foundation resources
with other partners, the foundation adds value and quality to New
Jersey community life.
Scholarships
The New Jersey Nets and Devils Foundation scholarship program
recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership qualities
and the desire to make a difference in the community. Students
are selected based on their history of community service, financial
need, and academic standing. Established in 1998, the program
provides recipients with a $4,000 scholarship over a four-year
period. Each scholarship is matched by the participating educational
institution, raising the total financial package to $8,000.
Among the qualifications for the Nets and Devils scholarship program,
applicants must have graduated from a New Jersey high school within
the last two years, demonstrated an ongoing history of community
service, demonstrated financial need, and the ability to do college
level work.
Participating colleges/universities are: Bloomfield College, Essex
County College, Hudson Community College, New Jersey City University,
New Jersey Institute of Technology, Passaic Community College,
Rider University, Rutgers University-Camden/Newark, Seton Hall
University, and William Paterson University.
The foundation awards approximately 42 scholarships annually,
including 21 at Devils’ games, with the remaining 21 to
be presented at Nets’ games. For further information on
the scholarships, please contact the New Jersey Nets and Devils
