Kids playing street hockey
The Fall of 1997 brought the introduction of the NHL/Devils street hockey league to the state of New Jersey. These types of programs are helping to create an even stronger following for the future of the franchise.

The NEW JERSEY DEVILS, together with the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE, would like to introduce you to an exciting new street hockey program called STREET DEVILS

WHAT IS STREET DEVILS? Street Devils is a street hockey program. Street hockey is a dry land variation of ice hockey that can be played outdoors on a blacktop surface or indoors on a gymnasium floor.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF STREET DEVILS? The purpose of Street Devils is to provide children with an athletic and educational program free of charge, through local community centers and schools.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Street Devils is targeted for boys and girls, ages 6-16, who live in northern and central New Jersey.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO PLAY? All that you need to play is a pair of sneakers. The NEW JERSEY DEVIL and the NHL will provide street hockey equipment (sticks, rubber pucks and balls, nets and protective goalie gear) to your community center.

HOW DO PARTICIPANTS LEARN THE RULES? The rules of Street Devils are similar to those of ice hockey with a few unique changes. The NEW JERSEY DEVILS will provide a start-up street hockey clinic for coaches and administrators. Information manuals will be given to coaches, while all Street Devils participants will receive individual play books.

WHERE DO I GO TO PARTICIPATE? Contact your local community center to see if they are an Official Program Center of Street Devils. If they are not, call the NEW JERSEY DEVILS @ 1-800-NJ-DEVIL, ask for the Street Devils department and a representative will direct you to your nearest "Official Program Center".

The NEW JERSEY DEVILS and NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE would like to invite your local community center or school to participate in the Street Devils Program. For an application to become an "Official Program Center", please call the DEVILS @ 1-800-NJ DEVIL.
